How did you get into fitness/competing?
My husband had decided to compete in his first show in May 2012 right after I had just graduated from nursing school.  I went and supported him and had an awesome time but was content on being in the crowd cheering him on.  Then a good friend of mine, and IFBB Figure Pro, spoke with me and convinced me to at least try one and since then I have been competing.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
My social life is limited as I work nights as it is.  So when I do have a night off, I like to relax and spend it with my husband.  I make my fitness more of a priority than my social life, plus, I prefer it that way.  My Saturday night out consists of getting a gym session in with my hubby haha.  Every now and then we go out with friends and take the day off to have some fun, but it’s a lifestyle that I love and enjoy.

Not really a girly, girl…but love the stunting part of cheerleading. I have always loved lifting weights and being strong. I was also on the powerlifting team.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
Honestly I have always been into fitness and working out. I can remember in the 4th grade riding my bike to an aerobics class at the YMCA, I thought that was fun (and normal??). Running is really my passion. It is my time to think, de-stress, dream and goal set.

So why did I stop running and start competing? I ran the Boston Marathon in 2012. When I crossed the finish line I felt accomplished, but had pretty much reached all my running goals and wanted a new challenge. I also didn’t like what running marathons had done to my body. Most of my muscle mass had changed from the gymnast sprinter look, to the long lean muscles of a distance runner.

So I decided to take on the challenge of competing in a figure competition!!  A little over a year… here I am an IFBB figure pro and ProSupps Brand Ambassador.  This journey has been HARD to say the least. It is a mentally and physically tough sport. Probably the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.

It absolutely blows my mind what proper nutrition, training and supplementation can do to the human body. It is a work of art. That is why I love it so much.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
When I first started competing I found it hard to find balance. I thought my “life” was over.  Proud to report I still have a social life and I work full time, do demos for ProSupps and train on the side. It is all about time management!!! I look at my workouts that NEED to get done for the upcoming week and I also look at major events going on that week and plan accordingly. Everything goes down on a calendar. Even my hubby knows when and I am working out that day. It is not a matter of if I get the workout in….it is when I get the workout in.

When I started this lifestyle was hard to have a social life because it seems things center around drinking and eating in our culture. I still go to social gathering that involve this and I even partake in some naughty food. It’s all about balance. I plan my cheats. Yep, even those go on the calendar. Of course there are different parts of the year that are more and less strict. For me the holidays…friends and family come first.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
After college football was done with and I graduated I wanted something to work towards like a goal just so I wasn’t in the gym just lifting weights because all my life I have trained for events so why not continue it.   In January I decided I was going to compete in men’s physique and April 12th of this year was my first show and I fell in love with it.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I think over the past  year my social life and my fitness life have combined into one because training for shows you surround yourself with positive people on the same track as you with the same vision.  Fitness is my life and I surround myself with people that are like minded in one way or another so I’ve been blessed to have the two intertwined.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
I use to work at a gym, Fabian who was a member at the gym (who became my personal trainer) asked me if I was interested in competing.  I had that mentality where lifting weights will make you look manly. He would send me pictures of Nathalia Melo every day! I love her body! So I was convinced to do it. He told me he would train me and when it came down to the show if I didn’t want to compete at least I would be in the best shape that I have ever been. So I trained for 2months, did my first show and BAM placed 1st!  He even warned me that I was going to get hooked and look at me now! It has changed my life. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today, if I didn’t take the chance!

How did you get into fitness/competing?
My husband Josh, when we met he was actually getting ready for his second bodybuilding competition. Being in that atmosphere I was instantly hooked and knew I wanted to do something in this industry! Not to mention during this time I was diagnosed with Lupus. I was showing signs of kidney failure, retaining 30-40lbs of water weight, and was seeing all sorts of specialist to find out what was going on. My doctors recommended I take diuretics and steroids to help, I knew this wasn’t an option. I worked in the health industry at the time and knew I didn’t want to become defendant on medications.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
Balance what’s that??! Lol Honestly I don’t have a social life. But I do have a family/fitness life! The way to make it work is to always put family first. Between managing our gym, training clients, running kids to gymnastics and sports practices, homework/school, chasing a toddler and everything else in between we follow a pretty strict schedule to make sure we have enough time in the day to accomplish everything we need. I always think of the quote “He who fails to plan, plans to fail.” So PLAN PLAN PLAN!!

How did you get into fitness/competing?
I moved to Australia when I was 19 and lived with a personal trainer and a chef who pointed out all my unhealthy habits which really opened my eyes. When I moved back to America, I kept the healthy habits I had adopted until I turned 21 and started working for a craft beer company. I quickly gained weight and then joined an all-women’s gym where I started learning aerial arts, mainly pole fitness. I grew to love working out but knew I needed to do more to get the results I wanted so I started researching what more I could do to improve and that is when I found fitness model Ingrid Romero. I contacted her in 2012 and Ingrid and Joe DiScuillo encouraged me to compete in my first bikini competition and they have been helping train me ever since.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
Fitness is a big part of my social life, and I tend to travel a lot to fitness-related events and enjoy those kinds of vacations. When I’m home, I workout when I need to and bring my meals with me when I leave the house. Planning is key, and honestly none of my friends care if I’m eating or drinking the same things they are so there is no reason to change that.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
I’ve always been a very active person, so lifting weights has always been a part of my life, but nothing to the extent of maintaining the lifestyle of an athlete.  I met my mentor & coach, Diego Botasso, “TeamEFT1″ at the Gym where I workout.  He approached me and asked if competing has ever crossed my mind.  I researched more about it and I loved the idea.  He warned me once I competed would become an addiction, and sure thing, I love being on stage and prepping to succeed.  I can’t thank him enough for introducing me to this sport and guiding me through this amazing journey which I believe is just the beginning of my future as an athlete.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I don’t go out much since my social life consist mostly of fitness related activities.  I enjoy waking up early and having energy to have a productive day.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
Growing up as a basketball player I always had to train in different ways; whether it be the weight room, basketball gym, or just outside. Eventually, I earned a full ride for basketball at the college level, but I found myself in the weight room much more than on the court. By the time my junior year came along my passion changed from basketball to fitness.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
It’s hard to be honest, but in my mind it’s completely worth it because fitness is a passion, not a job.

I started the fitness lifestyle last year, November 2013, I grew to love it. As time went on I was asked constantly if I competed, so 7 months later I met my coach and he started prepping me for my very first competiton where I placed first place and overall in Figure division. 14 weeks after that show I competed in two more shows, a local one where I place first place and then the following week, NPC Nationals, placing 2nd earning my IFBB Pro card. As I see everything now…it can only get better from here on out!

After college softball I wanted to continue to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle. The gym quickly became my favorite addiction and a huge passion of mine. It was something I fell in love with and helped me cope with many things in my life, it was my therapy. My favorite style of exercise is weight lifting. I also love to stay active outdoors and participate in certain activities including, snowboarding and hiking.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
Balancing my social life and fitness life is something I have struggled with in my past. For me it was one or the other, and took a lot of trial and error on my part. I have finally found away to make the gym and healthy living part of my life instead of my whole life, and because of that I am a much happier person all around.

How did you get into fitness/competing?

From 2011-2012 I experienced the hardest time of my life, which made me fall in love with fitness that much more. The deepest pain often empowers you to grow into your highest self. I went from being gluten-intolerant to not being able to eat anything without being in pain. I spent multiple days a week at the doctors getting tests done and was prescribed every medication possible. My doctor prescribed me medication used to treat Parkinson’s Disease, because it would “stop the muscle spasms in my stomach.” It would also slow down my reaction time, not making me able to drive or do daily tasks efficiently. I don’t believe in medication and I certainly would not succumb to being a person that lived off of it. Through it all, the gym was my therapy. Working out was my form of ‘medication’. Getting through an intense workout relieved the incredible stress I was under and made me feel alive. It dulled the pain and made me feel strong.

Every competition prep I go through, and every time I step foot on stage, I am eternally grateful. It’s a constant reminder of how strong I am, physically and mentally, and how much stronger I will continue to grow through the process.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?

My social life and fitness life have over the years combined into one. The majority of the people I surround myself with are in the fitness industry and practice a similar lifestyle.

I have always been involved with training, it started when I was young and was picked on a lot, bullied at school. I had a huge love for muscle, Arnold and Sylvester ( Commando and Rambo were all over my room) It wasn’t until I was 21 that I met my first coach that opened the world of REAL training to me.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
My social life takes a back seat as my training and my filming are priority. I’m known in my industry (film) for always being on point. There is NO off season for me and I always have to keep my body at 7 days out from shooting/filming. Very demanding, but I love the challange.

I was ultimately training in the rugby ‘offseason’ to put on some size, found a real passion and after understanding nutrition, saw notable changes. I was hooked.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?Dedication and time management is most certainly important when you are committed to achieving goals. I feel the better prepared i am the easier this balance becomes. If you want serious results, the hardest work is the preparation, be it food or time.  Get this right and the rest is easy.

Who do you look up to as a motivation in the sport? I have always seen Devin (devinphysique) as a true inspiration to me. Reason being his stature is similar to mine, and i feel he has a functional frame, meaning you can still achieve a normal(ish) life whilst achieve aesthetic greatness.

When I was 16 my mother decided to do a bikini figure competition and watching how she prepped and the changes it made to her body caught my attention. And it wasn’t until I watched her at the comp along with all the other male bodybuilders that I decided that is what I want to look like and started my journey of trial and error along with researching the correct ways to train and eat, in conjunction with the best supplementation.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I must admit it wasn’t easy at the start but the more I stuck to this lifestyle the more I was recognized by my friends as being the one who is the “fitness freak”. Which doesn’t bother me, as having the reputation of being the person who trains hard and eats clean most of the time is the best reputation to have!

How did you get into fitness/competing?
My father signed me up to my first gym when I was 16 so I’d stay out of trouble. I fell in love instantly, and learned as mush as I could as I went along, slowly making gains. I loved the challenge and pushing myself, and the results could not be ignored. When I graduated high school I worked at a gym for a number of years until it was bought out and I decided to go back to school. After taking some time off and completing my Paralegal program I decided to pursued my passion again on a part time basis, became an Certified Personal Trainer and applied what I learned to my own training.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
It takes a while but people around you start to get it and understand that you might bring your own meals over, won’t be out to late, and WILL NOT skip the gym. Doesn’t mean I don’t have fun, just very mindful of what I do, and decisions I make. I am very grateful for my family and friends who make up my support system and put up with me and my obsession.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
Getting into fitness started later in life for me and was an amazing escape from problems etc, this turned into a passion that has just grown stronger ever since.
With competing I just love the challenge.. the whole process gives my training purpose and keeps me committed to my goals.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I wouldn’t say my social and fitness life is at a balance haha fitness is my job and also passion so it takes up the majority of my time but making sure I plan my workouts, meals, clients etc it makes it easier to free up time for the greater things in life like family and friends.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
I was registered for martial arts/Ju-Jistu class at the age of 6 years as a results of being constantly bullied at school for being the tall and skinny kid. I started competing in martial arts at the age of 7 y/o and obtained my black belt at the age of 17 y/o. In 10th grade, I came across a hidden room, a dusty school gym. I then decided to added some meat on those bones. Being fast and smart was not enough so I decided to put more energy and time into bodybuilding. 16 years later, I still haven’t stop on those progress. They went from dreams to goals.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
My social life is also my fitness life. I don’ have any issues balancing both of them. I actually think they compliment each other.

Who do you look up to as a motivation in the sport? I admire everyone’s accomplishment  and commitment in this industry.

How did you get into fitness/competing?

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I surround myself with positive people that are supporting me and my lifestyle. Furthermore my hobby became my job, so it’s pretty easy for me.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
I have always been an athlete, although never to the competitive level I have achieved in bodybuilding. Throughout school I was a really well rounded athlete – I swam, did track, skied, snowboarded and got really involved in Rugby. My ex-boyfriend introduced me to the gym early on – I would traipse around behind him and his bodybuilding mates, always trying to lift like they did. When I started to see strength gains, and the changes to my body I was hooked. I’ve pushed tin off and on for about 15 years but it never occurred to me to compete – I just wanted to be strong and lift some heavy shit. After a devastating period in my life, I decided I needed to invest in myself and started back at the gym with a vengeance. The changes to my body were rapid and was encouraged by my fitfam to compete. I decided to train hard for 10 months. I was no frills – just hardcore. I competed in my first comp in September 2014 where I won four titles across both the figure and physique categories …. And so it began.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I’ve found a FitFam – a group of us that are all into the lifecycle. A group of us women – the FitFamFemmes are all in different lifecycles of lifting and competing. We train together and play together – so in that respect, I’ve been really lucky. The challenge in this sport is maintaining connections with people who may not be active in the bodybuilding or fitness lifestyle. I must admit, when I compete, I have absolutely no balance. My life, in its entirety, is focused on work and competing. I find more balance during off season – but again – they call it a lifestyle for a reason!

Who do you look up to as a motivation in the sport? Firstly, my motivation comes 100% from inside me. Whether it’s bodybuilding, my career or anything else, the feeling that I get when I’m not where I want to be is motivation enough for me to change. I’m an all or nothing person – so when I want to change, I’m 100% in. That said, I found Dana Linn Bailey really inspired me to accept my drive to bodybuild. I relate to her epic drive for personal success, and her ability to laugh at herself all the way through the process. Dana brought a sense of ‘real’ to the sport – and challenged most people to re-evaluate their ideas on physical appearance – especially in women. I believe that her most significant message is that if you are searching for acceptance or validation from others, no matter what you do, or how much you win – you will never be happy.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
It was May 2014 when I started training, my best friend started training and seeing her body change was crazy, I started following some fitness women too and it motivated me to have a go myself as I love to keep fit. I wanted to get into modelling and tried to through the fashion route but it really wasn’t for me. I just looked skinny and unwell so I saw fitness as another way I could possibly make my dream reality!

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
It is very hard to, but I have the occasional nights out which makes me appreciate them more. My social group has changed since I have been training so I just find my social is at the gym or fitness related which is more than enough for me. Everyone I am around now is positive and motivating!

Who do you look up to as a motivation in the sport? Michelle Lewis will always be my idol. I just think she is amazing and seeing her pictures and posts motivate me every day. I also love Jessica Arevalo and Aaron Shumake as a couple with such a positive view on the fitness lifestyle and relationships

How did you get into fitness/competing?
I got into fitness after a few years of dealing with loss and grief, and found fitness to be my stress reliever of some sort. With watching my partner, Shaun, begin competing for his first bodybuilding competition, I also became intrigued with the competition lifestyle and what it involved. Two shows later, and I’m hooked!

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
It’s tough, and something I’m still not amazing at, but I allow myself a cheat meal a week which I sometimes choose to have with friends, but most of my friends are very understanding about me and my lifestyle, so taking a prepared meal of mince, kumara and diet coke isn’t a huge deal for them and I hope they think that I can still be fun at the same time! Haha.

Who do you look up to as a motivation in the sport? Pretty much anyone who I can tell works hard, is ambitious, and doesn’t let anything get in their way of achieving their goals is someone I can look up to. Paige Hathaway is a huge inspiration of mine. She hasn’t grown up with the ‘easy’ life, and has had her fair share of hurdles; yet her success would show otherwise. She is one of those people who helps you to see that their is a light at the end of the tunnel.

How did you get into fitness/competing?
I have competed as a track and field athlete since I was 9 years old and I was the New Zealand champion for my age in Shot Put and Discus. I also competed in the high jump and short distance sprints. I left home to go to university when I was 18. I became very unhealthy, eating and drinking anything and everything! I gained 10kg and realised I needed to make a change and get back to the fit and healthy person I used to be. I joined a local gym and it became my life. I loved the feeling of working out and seeing my body change. One of the trainers at my gym asked me if I had thought about competing before but at that stage I didn’t really know much about the sport. I then started following a lot of Bikini competitors on social media who really motivated me and I finally gained the confidence to compete as well. In May 2015 I competed in my first NZIFBB bikini competition where I won the Novice category and took out the Overall Division as well.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I don’t go out too much (anymore!) as I spend most of my spare time doing fitness related activities (no hangover!). I used to struggle to balance my social life and fitness life but over the last year they have somehow combined! I now enjoy spending time with people who are interested in the same things as me, so that way I can enjoy doing both.

Who do you look up to as a motivation in the sport? I look up to Michelle Lewin and Ainsley Rodriguez! Even though I do not know them personally, I follow them on social media and they are a huge inspiration to me!

Total time it took to lose that weight: January 2013 to October 2013 (10 months)

What made you decide to make a change?
I made the decision to change not only my body and my lifestyle because I was not happy with the person I saw staring back at me from the mirror. I was always athletic and fit as a teenager, but didn’t make dieting and fitness a priority while in college and gained a massive amount of weight. I fell into the vicious cycle of over-eating and didn’t want to spend the rest of my life struggling to find a way out.

How has fitness changed/impacted your life?
Fitness has changed my life full circle! I’ve never felt happier and healthier than I do now! Fitness has motivated me to continue to fight for my dreams and goals and to accept the temporary sacrifices I have to make to achieve them.

What ProSupps products helped you reach your goals?
Dnpx II, L-Carnitine, Halotropin, ISO-late, Glutamine, AminoLinx, Hyde, Jekyll, and Crash.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
The way I balance my social life and my fitness life is to tie them together in a pretty now! I have motivated both my parents with my weight loss and we now go on hikes and more active adventures together as a family. I train daily with my long-term boyfriend and with my new close group of friends. And when we all have a minute we try and balance our cheat meals together! :)

What keeps you motivated to keep pushing?
Since my drastic weight loss I’ve managed to fulfill a lifetime dream of mine to help motivate me to push and work harder every day. I compete with The WBFF as a Bikini Diva! I’ve done two show in the past year and have scheduled myself to do two more this year!! My goal is to receive my ProCard, become a sponsored athlete and a team member on a fantastic staff of bikini coaches!

Anything else you’d like to share?
There’s no such thing as “too late” or “too much weight”. Anything is possible if you are willing enough to fight with all you have and follow through all the way to the end!! A fit lifestyle is one that involves a team effort and a constant reevaluation of your motivational drives and goals. It doesn’t get easier, but it sure becomes more of an adventure each day and leads you down an amazing eye-opening journey of self-discovery, strength, self-love and happiness!!

    Total Weight loss: 126.4 lbs

    Occupation: Salon owner/ Personal trainer

Total time it took to lose that weight:
It took me about 1 year 10 1/2 months.

What made you decide to make a change?
My doctor told me that I was pre hypertension(High Blood pressure) and I had one more apt before they were to start testing me for diabetes, also that if I continued at my weight I was at heart attack risk. I had a Wife and a baby girl that needed me… So I started to fight for my life mid February of 2012.

How has fitness changed/impacted your life?
Fitness has totally changed my life!! It saved it! I was a insecure, heavily depressed young man scarred on the inside, with a falsified happiness on the outside. I wore a 56 pant and a 5 XL shirt and could only shop at Big and Tall stores. I’m now in a 38/36 pant and a XL/L shirt! I no longer am Pre hypertension not pre diabetic! My life is definetly changed.

What ProSupps products helped you reach your goals?
I have used ProSupps from the beginning of my Journey. I started off with DNPX for Fat burner, Karbolic for post workout and Dr. Jekyll. I’ve since added I-Load, Halotrophin, and Vanish which I absolutely love!

How do you balance your social life and fitness life? Lol, it’s been a lil hard being that I’m so committed to reaching my goals, I’m learning to balance now and change my mindset realizing that this is my lifestyle now and I will not stop! So my family, career, and friends get some Taco time.

What keeps you motivated to keep pushing?
My 4 year old daughter Harlem tells me and my wife she wants to be a muscle girl because her daddy is a muscle man!! I want to continue to be a living example for not only her but my family, and whoever is going through what I came from. I never thought I could ever get to this place and I’m thankful!

Anything else you’d like to share?
Back in 2011 I was casted 2 times for the Biggest Loser along with my brother and both times we didn’t make the last round. Nothing against the show, I Love that show.. But I had to find the warrior in me and fight for my life! Don’t wait for anyone to do it for you… You have the power to start for yourself. Thank you ProSupps for being there from the beginning with amazing products that actually work!!

I am living proof!! Thank you!!

    City/State: Boston, MA
    Occupation: Waitress

Total time it took to lose that weight:
Since 2011 to present but used Vanish for 12 weeks.

What made you decide to make a change?
I was tired of being unhealthy and feeling bad about my body. I didn’t have energy to do the things I wanted and was too young to be a couch potato and not care.

How has fitness changed/impacted your life?
Fitness has helped me become more focused and goal oriented in everything I do. It helped me find a passion. Before I was just living day to day. Now I have a purpose! I want to share my story with others and help them change their lives for the better. I want to become a personal trainer so that I can pay it forward. I also became a bikini competitor which has helped me become disciplined and has taught me how amazing the human body is and what it can accomplish when it’s given proper nutrition and exercise.

What ProSupps products helped you reach your goals?
I currently use Vanish Fat Burner, ProSupps Whey Protein, AminoLinx and Hyde on a regular basis.

How do you balance your social life and fitness life?
I have a very busy life but I do make time for socializing. I dedicate myself during the week to focusing on the gym, work and my family and allow myself the weekends to spend time with friends and socialize! It’s important to have fun or else you’ll never stick with it. It’s a lifestyle change, not a quick fix.

What keeps you motivated to keep pushing?
I stay motivated with social media, having friends with similar fitness interests, and my goals: to become a fitness pro, fitness model, personal trainer and inspire people to change their lifestyle.

Anything else you’d like to share?
I would like to thank ProSupps Ambassador Brittany Mullen for always encouraging me and supporting me! Lastly if you’re just starting out your weight loss journey don’t get discouraged if things aren’t happening as fast as you’d like! It took me so long to get to where I am today and if I gave up because it was taking too long I’d never be where I am right now. Remember patience and consistency are the keys to achieving your goals!
