After a successful appearance at the Arnold Amateur earlier this month in Columbus, Ohio, our ProSupps Athlete and NPC Physique competitor Hong Kim is now back in the gym preparing for shows later this Summer or Fall.
One of the strongest attributes to the Maryland based South Korean Hong Kim, is his chest. With striations and deep cuts the results of his bench routines have certainly paid off and here is a first-hand look at his typical routine.
Hong Kim starts off with several warm-up sets to loosen up the muscles and get the blood flowing and then he jumps right into his routine.
Hong Kim’s Chest Workout
|Pec Deck Flyes||3 sets x 25 reps|
|Dumbbell Twist Presses||3 sets x 10 reps|
|Barbell Incline Presses||4 sets x 8 reps|
|Dumbbell Decline Presses||3 sets x 8-12 reps|
|Dumbbell Hex Presses||3 sets x 10-12 reps|
|Cable High Pulley Flyes||3 sets x 20 reps|
To intensify the workout, he sometimes incorporates drop sets into the program where he’ll complete a set of the desired exercise and then grab a lighter weight and rep that out to failure and then grab an even lighter weight and rep that out to failure again. This technique provides maximum tension and stress on the muscle to help it grow.
