THE LITTLE THINGS
I sat down at my dining room table to write a message of pure gratitude to you all. As I began to collect my thoughts, I heard the sounds of my children wrestling in the living room and one of them was crying (one of them is ALWAYS crying); I smiled. My 17-year old daughter then came to ask me if she could go have a sleepover (which I interpreted as an "ask" to get out of doing dishes); half smile. My other daughter had also escaped to to go for a run outside; I laughed to myself. It's amazing how much I realized how very thankful I was for these "little things" when I put my mind into that state of pure gratitude (note to self!).
The truth is, it would take me hours or days to write the many reasons why I am thankful for everyone and for everything in my life, including the gift of life itself. God has bestowed such abundant blessings upon me and it is such an awesome feeling to truly know this. Aside from my awareness of being “thankful for the little things”, I want to share with you a few things that are very important to me.
OTHER PEOPLE'S SACRIFICES
I am thankful for my military brothers and sisters that are away from their loved ones, allowing me to be close to my loved ones. I am thankful for the men and women in blue that are keeping our communities safe, allowing me comfort and safety in my own home. I am thankful for the doctors and nurses willing to take time away from their families to care for the families of others.
Have you ever thought about how amazing the world would be if, rather than just being thankful for what we have, we express gratitude to those that sacrifice time, family, and sometimes their own lives, for us to have?
Happy Thanksgiving everyone... God bless!
